Continuing my journey sans mobile unit today I rethread where my punctureless tires lead me on Tuesday, toward a scuplture arrangement courtesy of the Public Art Fund, to visit and document the work of Pakastani artist Huma Bhabha, arranged on a grassy lawn overlooking the water with a view of Manhattan island. The ambiguous figures stand stern and motionless but they are not without life. The more time spent with them, the more captivating they become. Like with most art, if one allows their available senses to engage a work without the mind meddling trying to figure something out; a connection can and will be made.
I did more than stand in awe of these forms. I made contact. As morning joggers intermittently passed on the adjacent path, I stood on the cement blocks which grounded each object and touched them one by one. Examining the bodies with my fingers while gazing into the fragmented skulls atop their shoulders - time ceased. A portal to the ancients was opening then immediately slammed shut as a woman pushing a stroller holding a smart phone moved toward one recording it's spectaular nature. When you engage the art; they will come.
